The Red Scooter Blenny, also known as the Starry Dragonet or Stellate Dragonet, is a small fish with a large head topped with fixed eyes and a small pointed mouth featuring a starry pattern of red and white splotches scattered across its body with bright blue spots on its head. The male usually has brighter colors and a larger dorsal fin.

The ideal temperature range for the Scooter Blenny is between 72 – 78 °F (22 – 26 °C), and the pH of the water should be between 7.7 – 8.3. Scooter Blennys do best in established tanks with live rock and a deep sand bed. They are very peaceful and can be housed with other peaceful fish in a reef tank setting, but may become territorial towards other blennies, gobies, or dartfish in smaller tanks.

Scooter Blennys are notoriously picky eaters and require a varied diet that includes copepods, rotifers, mysis shrimp, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, amphipods, spirulina, marine algae, seaweed, and algae-based foods 2-3 times daily. They are also known to spend all day picking at rock-work and are unlikely to rush away from what they’re doing when you put food in the tank.
